I had a lot of stuff in mind for my next post but the horror of this mornings events have to take priority.
My deepest sympathies to the families of the dead and prayers for the survivors.

The year, young as it is, has brought us so many horrific, gut-wrenching challenges from the wider world to grapple with, and I join you in sending heart-felt sympathy to all who have suffered in Paris today. You have got me thinking, though, that how we respond is important, not just for our own sanity and well being, but also, I believe, for the victims AND the perpetrators.
What do situations like this require?
Compassion, empathy, love, understanding, respect, humility, learning…?
And if so, it all starts with each one of us.

I agree. This mornings events were truly shattering but, as you say, our response is critically important. The potential consequences are alarming when you consider how polarized peoples opinions become after such horror.
